Troubleshooting Options for

WINDOWS machines will have more problems with QUICKTIME than MACs, so here are some solutions to try:
(For Windows 95/98/NT)

It seems like your computer video card may be too slow to play the CD. If you run other games with your card then ...

Try the following steps in sequence to solve video problems, going to the next step only if the problem persists.

First Option:
1. Make sure DirectX is installed for Windows 95/98, or Service Pack 3 for NT. You can do this by going to:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/

There is a place in one of the columns that says you can download it for free.

IF YOU TRIED the above and it doesn't help

Second Option:
2. Make sure DirectDraw and GDI are selected in the QuickTime control panel under Video Settings .

You do this by activating the
QUICKTIME player which gives you options of FILE, EDIT, etc.
Choose
EDIT
and then choose Preferences
then choose Quick Time Preferences
This gives you a new box.
Drop down in the top of the white box to you see
VIDEO SETTINGS
then check mark DirectDraw and GDI

Third Option:
3. Disable DirectDraw acceleration in the QuickTime control panel under Video Settings. (which means uncheck it.)

Other options to make it work: You can try to:

Fourth Option:
4. Disable DirectDraw in the QuickTime control panel under Video Settings.

Fifth Option:
5. Choose GDI in the QuickTime control panel under Video Settings.

Sixth Option:
6. THIS SHOULD ONLY BE TRIED BY A PERSON WHO UNDERSTANDS COMPUTERS: Download the latest drivers for your video card from the Web. Then try it again.  You can find what video card you have by going to SETTINGS
CONTROL PANEL
choose Display
and then click on the top gray tab that says SETTINGS
and read the words under DISPLAY

We are talking about the VIDEO card NOT the MONITOR, please do not get it confused.  Then by searching for that company you can usually find the updates on their website.  If you cannot find their website, let us know what the DISPLAY says and we can try to help you. The website may provide the information as to whether your video card can show the CD.

Seventh Option:
7. For Windows XP users only:

If you use XP, perform a search for a file on your C drive called "uplddrvinfo.htm" (without quotes). Once you've found the file, delete it or rename it. Doing so will not hinder your ability to use Windows XP.

Otherwise you will need to download service pak 1 from Microsoft XP update site, which takes 3 hours with a 33600 dialup.

If none of these options work for you, we ask that you  send the INITIATION CD-ROM back to us for a full refund.
